Nice article in the Globe & Mail that talks up the view that Bill C-30 is not just about eroding civil rights, but also about limiting the power of the judiciary (for example, taking away judges' ability to sentence appropriately by requiring mandatory minimum sentences for certain crimes).

My favourite quote:

The online-surveillance bill is the symptom, not the sickness. To protect our privacy, we must end the war on judicial discretion. Want to tell Vic Toews everything? Tell him this: Our judges are not standing with child pornographers when they protect our civil liberties.

could you please do an update trying out PhoneLocator Pro – it seems to be the only other main contender you missed, and might in fact be the best one. Let us know!

by the way, there are two apps with the PhoneLocator name, it’s this one we need opinion on – https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rvo.plpro

PS – if you have time, also test out WatchDroid Pro

Comment on GoDaddy’s Stance On SOPA Shows Off Their Ignorance In More Ways Than One! by Tyler Style

Good thing I decided to post a browsershot of GoDaddy's first position on SOPA. After the redditor campaign to get people to transfer their domains away from GoDaddy (and to date 2 million domains, include some very big names, have done so), they've flip flopped on the issue, issued a very terse retraction of GoDaddy's SOPA suppport, and yanked the original posts. Creeps. At least own up to your original mistakes instead of trying to cover up like a dog that made a mess on the carpet; if you wanted to make sure people knew you'd retracted your position, you could always put some text at the top of the original post to let people know instead of trying to hide it altogether.

Thanks for the input. I find basic features matrices often have so many details that it's easy to get lost trying to figure out what's important and what's not. I defined what I thought was important at the beginning of the review and then went on in a narrative style pointing out which apps met my expectations, which didn't, and why.

Since this is a blog and not a tech review site, this is both appropriate and (much more to the point) the style I enjoy writing in :)

IMHO, Cerberus is still the go-to for mobi anti-theft exies. One of the biggest pieces not mentioned in this review, otherwise well-executed, is that the exie's price is a single point charge. This fact alone, especially when viewed with the depth & functionality of the feature set, will handily sway the opinion of many buyers. Also, I find comfort choosing this exie since it's the only one included in the ROM Manager lineup. ~:sDs:~
